Our first titan race outside of our home track! We had a great time being here with all the other racing families. Unfortunately our race results were less exciting. Our heat race included 2 collisions, the first unseating our tire, and the second sending us into the wall. With our confidence a bit shaken up, we ended up finishing at the back of the pack.
A lucky pill draw saw us start P3. Unfortunately, that was the end of our luck. One pit stop saw us drop to P8, with Winn only able to recover to a P4 finish. Winn dropped a few places due to a lackluster start. He REALLY wanted a podium this time, leading to a few questionable pass attempts; we got away with our first foray into the infield, but the same move a few laps later saw us earning our first (and hopefully only!) black flag of the season.
Our first Bullrider weekend! Our best time from time trials was 2nd slowest of the group as we're still getting used to racing and car setup on dirt. Winn did manage a good enough result to start at the rear in the feature race. From there, the weekend went downhill- some tough racing sent us over the curbs resulting in a broken shock shaft, immediately followed by a pretty hard rear collision.
We started at the rear for our first, and third overall, junior race at home. Despite being unable to gain any track position in our heat and feature, our driver displayed some good racecraft today. Car changes between races shaved 2 tenths off our lap times, but the compeititon today was just too good.
Still getting the hang of this dirt racing thing.. Our heat race was an uneventful P7 to P7, while our feature had some good racing that left us in P8. No car failures this week and no incidents on track is a solid base to build from.
Some days are better than others. A leaking brake caliper lead to our first DNS of the season. Winn did the work to go from P8 to P5, but saw it undone on the last lap. Still, we completed our first junior race with zero incidents and clean racing so we'll take that win!
We started our very first dirt race heat in P4. Some tough competition, and learning our car as well as the track, only allowed us to net P3 at the finish. Two heats meant we started just P5 in the feature race. Changing track conditions and some newfound confidence allowed us to charge to a finishing position of P2! We were bested by our trackmate and friends @LFI Racing, who managed to take home a first place victory!
A hard hit after we spun ourselves led to our first (and hopefully only) DNF of the season.
A hard hit left us with some bent radius rods. Even with that damage, we still worked the car up to a P3 finish! Congrats to Tyler and Ivan on their 2nd and 1st place finishes!
Took home a 2nd place victory. Forgot to get a picture (whoops), so took one later at home.
Came back for Day 2. Today we managed to secure P1, while @LFI Racing took home P2. Honeybrook wins again!
First Titan Race. Bit different, LOTS more cars, way more FUN. Managed to take home P2, while @LFI Racing took home P1. Honeybrook represent!
Not a race, but we had the opportunity to attend the Herhey Sprint Car Experience with our club. We got to see some of the cars we could race in the future.
With a crowd of skilled drivers in front of us, we only managed a P5. Still a respectable result given our competition!
Season Opening / Alumni day! We had a great time at our first race of the season, and taking home 1st place doesn't hurt. All the drivers were amazing to see!
